AMOURELLE
by
FRANK HESS
BRACELET and EARRINGS, 1963-1964, Mottled Green Glass beads with irregular pearls, rhinestones, and gilt metal findings. After Frank Hess retired from the Miriam Haskell company he joined forces with Josef Morton Glasser and formed the Morton Hess company. He left the company in 1963 and went to work for Kramer and formed a line call Amourelle. When I found this set it was a necklace that was missing a strand of beads, but I felt the motif was so gorgeous that it would make a beautiful bracelet. I sent it to Millie Petronzio, head designer for Miriam Haskell Ltd. and asked her to create a bracelet. She knotted it between each bead. The box clasp back was not the correct size and she, of course, only has Haskell parts. So, now the bracelet has a contemporay Haskell back with the Haskell oval. What a poetic journey this set has had. One of Frank's last works returned to his beloved Haskell company.  Bracelet measures 7-1/4". Earrings 2" x 1-1/2". Bracelet marked Miriam Haskell and the earrings are marked Amourelle. #2199

MIRIAM HASKELL NECKLACE, c.1930s, EXTREMELY RARE!! One of the most Beautiful of Frank Hess' designs. The extra large center drop consists of four large Green glass leaves, four large Gold washed Filigree leaves, with a large Butterfly stamping accent; all highlighted with Cranberry glass beads, Pale Yellow beads, and Faux pearls. There are eight box chain segments, separated by bead caps and Cranberry, Yellow, and Faux pearl beads. A small restoration was done by Millie Petronzio, Haskell's head designer. One chain was removed from each of the top three segments to create a new three chain segment. So, the top four segments consist of three chains each, while the bottom four segments consist of four chains each. The age and integrity of the design remains. This necklace is in "Miriam Haskell Jewelry" by Gordon and Pamfiloff, pg. 120, and "The Jewels of Miriam Haskell", by Cera, pg. 87.  Measures 18-1/4". Drop measures 4-1/2".
